This summer me and wonderfully talented friend Stacy Brafield from England are have a group exhibition at Thrane Gård Galleri i Sandnes, Norway. We are working together to create a site specific textile installations. We will be doing collaboration pieces both inside and OUTSIDE the gallery, as well as showing some of our own works.

Vestlands Exibithion 2012

I was very glad to know that I am one of the lucky ones that will be exhibiting my work at the Vestlandsutstilling 2012. The lovely curator Annmari Skeide is putting the show together as we speak with the theme: MOVEMENT. The exhibition will travel to four different city on the west coast of Norway during the spring of 2012.

Today I decided to join an art and craft marked on Tou Scene in Stavanger. I will be selling small crafting things like rings, necklaces and will be showing some bigger artwork. The fair is the 4 of September from 12 to 16. COME, COME, COME!

It is based on The tattooed Ladys that traveled the world showing of ther tattoos in the 1920´s.

New project for a woodcutting class I am taking. This is just a skecth, I have printed like 20 different ones and I will show them here after the class is over.

The idea of the project was to make fun of what people pray for. Often it is stuff like winning the lottery or finding something you lost. So I started playing with the idea that this relgious figurs HAD TO make our "wishes" come true. Eventhoug sometimes this wishes are really stupied and unnecessary. Let me know what you think:)

My first tattoo!

I finally got the tattoo i've be dreaming of for so long! I got it four days ago, so its still very sore.
But I am glad to say it diden't hurt, so dont worry if your planning on get one:)

I was really lucky to get Tomas Brudvik ( one of Norway best ) to tattoo me, and I recommend him to every one!

A differet view: Little Red Riding Hood

The newest story about Littel Red Riding Hood is a happy one, at least it has a happy ending. But the story I wanted to tell in this project was quite different. The original story was told as a warning to children, especially young girls, and did not have a happy ending at all. In fact it ends with the main characters death.

The wolf in this story is representing everything evil a young girl could encounter. It could be a rapist, robber or murderer. The fact that Little Red Riding Hood dies because see trusted the wolf, was supposed to scare girls from talking to strangers.

But after many years the story has changed. I was interested in why these stories had changed so much. Where they to scary? To close to the truth? I wanted to bring that old story back to life and see how people reacted.

I did not want to expose the morbidity in the orignal story. It became importent that the innocences in the story was very clear, I just wanted small hints of darkness to be present. And the let the viewer imagine the worsted.

And that is how this installation came in to life.

Building patterns

This project was based on the fairytale " Little Red Riding Hood" and was inspired by a psycologist Bruno Bettelheim, who analyzed old childrens storys.

Parts of the patterns is printe with a silkscreen and some is painted by hand. Here I have only used reactiv dyes.

My first day as a blogger

Today I finally made my own blogg. The point of this blogg is to show you nice people what I'm doing as an artist and to get feedback and your opinion on my work. I will try to be a good girl and keep you up to date when ever I have something new.

Well, to tell you a little bit about my self: I am a 22 year old textile student from Norway, I am in my second year at Bergen National Academy of the Arts also known in Norway as KhiB, and I'm in the department of specialized art, where I study textile.

Before I started my art education, I studied general psychology and motivational psychology at the University of Bergen. I also have a background in painting and drawing whitch I still love to do.
